Carrara C

Found in Italy, Carrara marble has been quarried since Roman times and has long been a favorite of sculptors.  It was in these quarries during the Renaissance that the block of white marble that Michelangelo later transformed into David was found.  Back in Roman times, quarrymen cut the marble by hand with hammers and chisels at a rate of about an inch a day. Today, 15,000 tons are extracted daily from the mountains.  Cararra is available in both slabs and tile.  Reference Item No: MAR801
